Curriculum & Instruction

We are committed to ensuring that our students are healthy, safe, supported, challenged, and engaged.

Purpose of the Office of Curriculum and Instruction

The office of Curriculum and Instruction at Haldane serves to support and guide the development and delivery of high quality instructional programs that foster academic excellence, critical thinking, and lifelong learning defined by a set of skills and attributes known as the Haldane Essentials. By working collaboratively with educators, school leaders, and the community, we aim to ensure that every student received a well-rounded, rigourous, and relevant education.

Key Areas of Focus

The office of Curriculum & Instruction is dedicated to creating a curriculum that is comprehensive, challenging, aligned with New York State standards, and supports the attainment of the Haldane Essentials. We work to ensure that our curriculum reflects current research in pedagogy and is responsive to the needs of our student population. Through ongoing review and refinement, we strive to keep curriculum materials and instructional practices current, engaging, and inclusive.

Haldane Central School District will prepare all students to succeed in an ever-changing global society.

In pursuit of this mission, we believe:
  • Learning and the education of the whole child is a shared, collaborative, community-based responsibility.
  • We must be inclusive, provide multiple pathways to success, and strive to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Instruction should be authentic, challenging, and rigorous, and elicit the most critical skills and disposition from our students.
  • Our facilities should be safe, environmentally respectful, and supportive of student learning.

Instructional Support and Professional Development

The Haldane Central School District provides its teachers and school leaders with substantial professional learning opportunities that are tailored to the needs of educators and directly related to student learning outcomes. A wide variety of methodologies are used to provide professional learning experiences that meet the diverse needs of Haldane's staff. Whether through local, regional, and state workshops, consultants, or collaborative learning communities, Haldane is committed to fostering an environment of continuous growth for teachers, administrators, and staff.
