Fifth Grade, ELA
Mrs. Battersby enjoys being a long-time member of the Haldane school community. She believes Haldane is a special place where each student is valued and challenged to grow to their potential. Mrs. Battersby loves to travel, as well as hike, bike, canoe, kayak, and camp.
Ms. Behling has been a New York State Certified Speech/Language Therapist for twenty-five years, sixteen of which have been at the Haldane School District. In her free time Ms. Behling enjoys cycling, kayaking, camping, quilting, and competitive ballroom dancing.
Mr. Bernstein is in his seventh year of teaching and is honored to be in his first year as a member of the Haldane faculty. After completing his Master’s Degree in General and Special Education from Bank Street College of Education, he began his career at a progressive School in New York City. There he honed his craft in designing inquiry lessons and curriculum for multiple grade bands. Mr. Bernstein taught fourth grade for four years and then taught science and mathematics in sixth grade for two more years. He is now teaching fifth grade Haldane students his two favorite subjects, social studies and science. Mr. Bernstein loves that his family is just a stone's throw away in Carmel, where he frequently fishes on his lake or enjoys a science fiction novel.
Ms. Branco went to SUNY New Paltz and School of Visual Arts where she made many paintings, drawings, and graduated as a sculptor. She was an art teacher for three years at The Seed in Yorktown, then three more at Growing Up Green Charter School in Queens. Ms. Branco loves to bake bread, play outside, and hug animals.
Ms. Burke has been a pediatric occupational therapist for 18 years. She began her career with children ages 0-21 with various developmental, neurological, learning, and physical disabilities in residential centers, day treatment facilities, schools, and at their homes. She has worked as a contracted early intervention provider, as well as a school-based therapist, serving Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess Counties. Ms. Burke has extensive experience with Spanish Bi-lingual and English-speaking children ages 0-10. She was also founder and co-owner of a private practice specializing in Sensory Integration Therapy. Ms. Burke joined Haldane in 2015 and enjoys working to help children reach their maximum potential for functional independence to be successful in their future endeavors. She enjoys her husand, 9-year-old son, and 2 rambunctious dogs, as well as learning about wellness and nutrition. In the winters you can find her skiing up at Catamount Mountain and in the summers either relaxing together or traveling to visit our families in Spain and Ireland.
Teacher, Modified Cross Country Coach
Mr. Caldiero has worked in the Haldane School District for 18 years teaching physical education from kindergarten right on through the high school. Over the years, he has also coached modified soccer, modified volleyball, modified cross country, and served as an assistant to varsity lacrosse and varsity volleyball. He helps run the middle school intramural program and was the middle school student council adviser for five years. Mr. Caldiero feels that it is a rewarding experience to see the kids grow throughout their years here in the Haldane community. It is without question the best part of his job!
