In 2017, the newly-formed 5th grade drama department debuted their first production, The Lion King. In 2018, the troupe performed Aristocats. All interested 4th and 5th grade students are invited to be part of this year's spring production.
Elementary Band is a great way for students to experience what it means to be part of an ensemble, work with others, and of course, learn to express themselves through music. We meet once a week at 8:15am for a full band rehearsal and we have a weekly lesson with each instrumental group to cover the specifics of each instrument. Fourth Grade students meet on Tuesdays and Fifth Grade students meet on Fridays. Playing an instrument is a great opportunity for students to develop their collaborative skills, motor skills, conceptual thinking, and more!
The Caring Community consists of a group of 4th and 5th grade students that have a vision to create an environment where all students, families, and the community work closely together for the good of all. Their mission includes reaching out to students who feel less connected to peers by random acts of kindness, encouragement, and a variety of activities to make more meaningful connections between school and community. Mrs. Pray and Mrs. Curry oversee their ideas and help facilitate their plans.
The Child Study Team (CST) at Haldane Elementary School has developed an after school HELP Program to provide students with additional supports and interventions to help increase their capacity for success in school. The goal of this program is to provide students with a structured environment in which they can receive additional assistance with homework, reinforce positive study habits and skills, and become more independent learners.
On November 7th, 2017, people around the country went to the polls to cast their votes. The same happened here at Haldane for our brand new elementary school student council elections. Before the voting took place, candidates had to collect signatures to be on the ballot. They then had to campaign by hanging posters, writing speeches, and presenting them to the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade voters. Votes were cast on Election Day and the results were announced the following day. Learn more about the Student Council here.
