Use of Personal Information

This policy informs you, as a user of the District's systems and applications, about how the Haldane Central School District collects, uses, and protects information about you through your use of District-created websites and the District's computer applications. Please read this policy carefully before using the District's website and/or applications. The District may change this policy from time-to-time through the normal policy review process. By accessing and using the District's website and applications, you consent to the terms described herein.

The District does not collect any personal information about you unless you voluntarily provide it by such things as sending us email, creating an an account, participating in a survey, or completing an online form. Personal information submitted will not be transferred to any non-affiliated third parties unless otherwise stated at the time of collection. When a user submits personally identifiable information it is used only for the purpose stated at the time of collection.

Consent

As stated in the HCSD Media Opt-Out Policy, we may interview and take photographs and videos of students involved in school activities for use on this website. We may also showcase student work. Information released about students may include student name, school, grade level, awards, and participation in officially-recognized school and district activities and sports. Parent/guardians who wish to opt their child out of inclusion on the website and in other school publications, must complete the HCSD Media Opt-Out form.

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser that allows the website to “remember” your preferences such as calendar settings and site bookmarks on the site from visit to visit, or to maintain your “logged in” status when visiting protected areas. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on our site. Security

This website takes every reasonable precaution to protect our users' personal information. Whenever users submit personal information (such as contact info or credit card info) via online forms, registration, or online purchase, upon submission that information is encrypted via the highest level of SSL (Secured Sockets Layer) available. Servers that store personally identifiable information are in a secure environment. Under no circumstances are credit card numbers permanently stored on our website servers.

If you receive or create a password when registering for any of the District's applications, you should not divulge this password to anyone. The District will never ask for you password in a telephone call, fax, e-mail, or other form of unsolicited communication. When you are finished with an application, you should sign out of the application. If the browser you used to access the application is publicly accessible (such as on a computer at a public library or internet cafe), you should close the browser session and, if possible, clear any browser history.

 

Non-secured Communications

Posts to discussion forums, discussion boards, and comments to blogs are viewable by other users. When these areas are not in a password-protected area, they may be viewable by the general public. Please be aware of this when posting personal information in these areas.
